Gukesh Dommaraju, an 18-year-old Indian chess grandmaster, created history by becoming the youngest undisputed World Chess Champion. Born in Chennai, India, Gukesh began playing chess at the age of seven and quickly rose through the ranks, earning the title of grandmaster at just 12 years old. He beat incumbent world champion Ding Liren in December 2024, winning the Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE; International Chess Federation) World Chess Championship by a margin of 7.5 to 6.5 points to clinch the title.
