
LIVERPOOL: (Sep 5) Indian boxer Sumit Kundu produced a commanding performance to advance to the round of 16 at the World Boxing Championships with a unanimous decision win over Jordan’s Mohammad Al Hussein in the men’s middleweight category here on Friday.
Neeraj Phogat (65kg) and Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Jaismine Lamboria (57kg) too recorded wins in their respective round of 32 fixtures.
One of the most promising pugilists in the country, Sumit seized control from the opening bell as he immediately claimed the centre of the ring and forced Al Hussein on the defensive.
