Director Vivek Agnihotri urges Mamata to ensure smooth release of ‘The Bengal Files’ in theatres

KOLKATA: Vivek Agnihotri, director of the controversial Hindi film ‘The Bengal Files’, on Tuesday appealed to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to facilitate a smooth release of the movie, alleging that Trinamool Congress workers are threatening theatre owners not to screen it.

The movie on the direct action day and the 1946 Kolkata riots is slated to hit theatres on September 5.

In a video message shared on X, Agnihotri requested Banerjee “with folded hands” to listen to his words and not to “suppress an important part of history” before the next generation by any move.
