Filmmaker Francis Lawrence to direct ‘Red Rising’

LOS ANGELES: (Oct 17) Filmmaker Francis Lawrence is set to direct Paramount’s science fiction film “Red Rising”.

The film is based on Pierce Brown’s novel, which was released in 2014 and emerged as the New York Times bestseller. It also won the author a Goodreads Choice Award for Best Debut Author, according to the entertainment news outlet The Hollywood Reporter.

“Red Rising” follows an oppressed miner named Darrow who infiltrates a brutal ruling-class academy to destroy a rigid, colour-coded society from within.
