
Hyderabad: Surmandal, an organization dedicated to promoting music for over 55 years, is set to present the Triveni Music & Dance Festival Season 2 on January 4, at Ravindra Bharathi.
The festival promises a mesmerizing evening of music and dance, featuring performances by acclaimed artistes.
The event will open with a Kathak recital by Hyderabad-based dancer Mukti Shri Mukku. She will be accompanied by a talented ensemble of musicians, including Ashay Kulkarni on Tabla, Krushna Salunke on Pakhawaj, Suranjan Khandolkar on vocals, Yashwant Thitte on Harmonium, and Anvi Shri Padhant.
Following the Kathak recital, the audience will be treated to a spectacular jugalbandi featuring sitar maestro Padma Shri Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan and flautist Vidwan Shashank Subramaniam. The duo will be accompanied by Ojas Adhiya on Tabla and Satish Patri on Mridangam. Telangana Tourism and Canara Bank have joined hands to support this cultural celebration.
The Triveni festival, conceptualized by the late Mohan Hemmadi, is a tribute to legendary artistes Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Allah Rakha, and M S Subbulakshmi. It is now organized in memory of its founders, Mohan Hemmadi and Anuradha Hemmadi.
Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, a seventh-generation exponent of the Imdadkhani Gharana, is a globally renowned sitar maestro. Known for his soulful renditions, he has performed at major music festivals worldwide, including the Festival of India in the US, Europe, and Australia.
Mukti Shri Mukku, an accomplished Kathak dancer, considers her art a form of worship. She has performed at prestigious venues, including the Barbican Centre in London, the UK Kathak Festival, and the International Paleo Festival in Switzerland, according to a statement on Friday.
