Washington, Mar 21 US President Donald Trump on Thursday signed an executive order to begin eliminating the Department of Education that has been in place since 1979.
Trump signed the order during a ceremony at the White House, pledging that this action would elevate the US education system to the level of global leaders such as Finland, Sweden, and China.
“We’re going to be returning education, very simply, back to the states where it belongs,” Trump said in his remarks during the ceremony.
