LUCKNOW: Defending the court-ordered survey at Sambhal’s Shahi Jama Masjid, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said in the Assembly on Monday that the atmosphere deteriorated in the district due to the speeches given during Friday prayers.
Attacking the opposition, he said that 209 Hindus were killed in communal violence in Sambhal since 1947 but these parties never spoke a single word for them.
Four people were killed after violence erupted in Sambhal last month during protests by the Muslim community against the survey of the mosque which was ordered by a court after a petition claimed that it was the site of the Harihar temple and sought permission to worship there.
