Navi Mumbai: India Women secured a convincing 60-run win against West Indies Women in the final T20I to claim the three-match series 2-1 here on Thursday. This triumph marked their first home series win in five years.

After setting a daunting target of 218, India’s bowlers put up a disciplined performance to restrict West Indies to 157/9 in their 20 overs.

Smriti Mandhana led from the front with a brilliant knock of 77 off 47 balls, hitting 13 boundaries and one six. She was well-supported by Jemimah Rodrigues, who scored 39 off 28 balls.

However, the star of the show was Richa Ghosh, who smashed a record-equalling half-century off just 18 balls. Her scintillating innings of 54 off 21 balls included five towering sixes and three boundaries, propelling India to an imposing total of 217/4.

West Indies bowlers struggled for consistency, with Deandra Dottin (1/54) and Aaliyah Alleyne (1/45) proving expensive.

West Indies’ response got off to a shaky start, losing Qiana Joseph and Hayley Mathews early.

Henry provided a brief glimmer of hope with an explosive 43 off 16 balls, hitting four sixes and three boundaries.

However, wickets fell at regular intervals, with Radha Yadav (4/29) and Renuka Thakur Singh (1/16) delivering clinical spells. India’s fielding was equally sharp, with a key run-out and excellent catches keeping the pressure on the visitors.

India’s victory not only secured the series but also demonstrated the depth and form of their squad as they gear up for upcoming challenges.
